Missing Children Forum - Trelawny

The OCR hosted the second in a series of Missing Children Fora in Trelawny at the Parish Council Town Hall on Friday, November 27, 2015. The activities were structured to inform students on the phenomena of missing children, how to proceed if a child goes missing and steps that are taken in the recovery process as well as how they can assist in the prevention of children who would likely go missing. The students were also given the opportunity to create an intervention programme which would be implemented in their schools. Among the activities suggested were; Ananda Alert Day surrounding International Missing Children’s Day (May 25), Quizzes, Clubs/ Committees, and even a Community Forum.

Participating stakeholders who were represented at this event ranged from The Missing Person Monitoring Unit (JCF), The National Centre for Youth Development and The Child Development Agency (CDA) while schools that participated were William Knibb Memorial High, Holland High and Muschett High.

The OCR wishes to register a hearty thank you to all who participated in this event. Also we wish to express sincere appreciation to the sponsors of the event namely; Iberostar who provided lunch and dessert, Tastee Ltd. who provided patties and Mega Mart, Jamaica who donated a cake.
